Knee Injuries

Knee injuries can occur as a result of trauma or from overuse.

Traumatic knee injuries (eg a fall or a tackle) can sprain/tear ligaments, cartilage, tendons or muscles around the knee.  The severity of these can be diagnosed by physical assessment and with the help of x-rays, CT scans or MRIs.

Overuse injuries tend to occur as a result of poor alignment, repetitive movements or poorly designed training schedules.

Your physiotherapist can help work out what structure has been damaged in the knee and provide help with rehabilitation (minimize swelling, restore normal movement, return you to your normal activities).

Many knee injuries can be prevented or quickly resolved with correction of faulty biomechanics. This may be correcting your knee alignment with strengthening or taping or correcting the technique with which you move (eg lifting posture and technique).

If you are having any knee problems don't hesitate to give us a call and make an appointment to see a physiotherapist.
