Your Child's Feet and Legs |
|
There are many
different shapes and alignments of children's feet and legs which change as
they grow. Many postures which would
cause concern in an adult's legs are completely normal in children. For example, flat feet, bow legs, knock knees
and tiptoe walking can be found in many children and these often self-correct
as the child matures.
Some children
experience "niggles" and pains as their bodies grow. (eg Osgood-Schlatters Disease - pain just
below the kneecaps resulting from development of the patella tendon putting
tension on its connection point in the shin bone). These can often be alleviated with massage,
stretches and exercises if pain is a significant problem.
If you have any
concerns at all whether your child's pain/posture are "normal", book an
appointment with one of our physiotherapists or podiatrists for an assessment
and advice.
